Tourist Attractions
Choosing Australia for your next holiday is a wise decision. Australia is a country rich in history and full of great tourist attractions. There are so many interesting attractions in the country that you will find it hard to choose just a few to fit into your stay.
Each city in Australia has its own special tourist attractions. In Sydney they include the Sydney Opera House, The Sydney Harbor, The Zoo, The Mint, The Powerhouse Museum, and the Australian National Maritime Museum. Of course there are many, many more to choose from in Sydney, what you pick depends upon how long you will be in town and if you have children with you. Families love the Sydney IMAX Theatre, the Zoo, and aquarium.
Scuba divers will tell you that the greatest tourist attraction is the Great Barrier Reef. It is located in Cairns which lies in the Northern region of Australia. This reef houses over 400 types of coral and over 1400 different species of sea life. Divers come from all over the world for the chance to explore this reef.
Kangaroo Island is another popular destination in Australia. This island sits just off the coast of Adelaide and is home to wildlife, birds and flora and fauna. You can see kangaroos, koalas, and wallabies on Kangaroo Island. Your children would love it.
Another big tourist attraction is Ayers Rock. It is a huge sandstone structure that is located in Uluru which is in Central Australia. The government created a National Park around it since it became so popular. It is called the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and it is perfect for hiking and exploring all the area has to offer.
Australia is also home to some of the world’s best beaches. Bondi Beach is the most popular beach and it is located approximately 7 kilometers from the city of Sydney. Be careful if you are on the southern section of Bondi Beach since it is known to have a fierce rip current that can pull you in. This area is mainly used for surfing since swimming is hardly ever recommended.
A trip to Australia is not complete without a trip to the Outback. Explore Aboriginal culture in Mildura or Kununurra. You can dine in fine restaurants or in a small local café; you can visit Aboriginal Art Galleries too. Take a hot air balloon or a jeep tour of the area to see everything it has to offer.
